Jessica Rae works from her picturesque studio surrounding by the natural landscape and the Yarra River, 40km northeast of Melbourne. Her functional ceramics are inspired from moments of stillness. The minimalist forms and restrained use of glaze result in a refined range of ceramic ware.
A recent extension to Jessica's practice has been animal inspired sculpture. This offers a playful and organic element in contrast to the use of the potters wheel.
Jessica's creative ceramic journey began fifteen years ago after a series of night classes and short courses while working as an Environmental Engineer. Deciding ceramics was her passion and where her heart was taking her, she completed a Diploma of Ceramics and realised her dream of becoming a full time ceramicist.
